Recreation

The City of Cheviot offers several recreational facilities including:

Cheviot Memorial Fieldhouse
Harvest Home Park
Cheviot Municipal Swimming Pool

A popular event in Cheviot and Green Township is the annual Harvest Home Fair (noted as the “Biggest Little Fair in Ohio”), held the weekend following Labor Day. The Fair is sponsored by the Cheviot-Westwood Kiwanis Club and all proceeds go back to the community. The Fair is kicked off every year by a 2½ hour parade through downtown Cheviot and ending at the fairgrounds.

The City of Cheviot has partnered with Cheviot Game Time Sports Bar & Grill to allow residents to use the outdoor volleyball court on Saturdays between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. This arrangement came about through the City’s participation in Hamilton County Public Health Department’s “WeThrive!” grant, which promotes healthy lifestyles. Game Time is located at 3613 Harrison Avenue.

There are plenty of youth sport leagues year-round in Cheviot. These sports include baseball, basketball and soccer. Then, being only fifteen minutes from downtown Cincinnati, there’s professional sports consisting of the Cincinnati Reds, the Cincinnati Bengals, FC Cincinnati and the Cincinnati Cyclones as well as intercollegiate sports with several universities in the area.

Cheviot Memorial Fieldhouse

Cheviot Memorial Fieldhouse has basketball and volleyball facilities and a meeting hall. Located at 3729 Robb Avenue, the fieldhouse serves as an ideal place to hold a dance or wedding reception. Adjacent to the fieldhouse are athletic fields for playing baseball, softball, football and soccer. The city’s municipal tennis courts are right next to the building as well. On the front of the building are memorial plaques that honor the men and women who served their country in both WWI and WWII and those who made the supreme sacrifice. Also in front of the building is a Commemorative Plaza, where engraved bricks purchased by citizens in 1993 to honor Cheviot’s 175th birthday are placed. As of April 1, 2009, the Cheviot Memorial Fieldhouse has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
