In April 2024, the Cheviot Police Department launched its Drone Unit with the addition of a DJI Matrice 30T. This state-of-the-art drone enhances our ability to keep the community safe by providing both high-quality and thermal video. It is used for a variety of purposes, including monitoring large community events, assisting in missing person searches, documenting accident scenes, and responding to emergencies. With secure live-streaming through DroneSense, supervisors and partner agencies can view real-time footage, improving coordination and decision-making when it matters most.
All Cheviot Police drone operators are FAA Part 107 certified, ensuring the drone is flown safely and professionally. Beyond serving Cheviot, the drone is also available to assist neighboring police, fire, and emergency services upon request—strengthening partnerships and public safety throughout the region.
The Cheviot Police Department has an officer working on the countywide Regional Narcotics Unit (RENU). Being part of the countywide unit allows us access to extensive resources that assist our officers with the apprehension of anyone dealing drugs in Cheviot. Anyone with information can call the RENU Tip Line at (513) 352-3673, send email to RENU@sheriff.hamilton-co.org, or text a tip to (513) 808-4500.
